Glow Fair 2017 - Stonewall Gallery on Bank Street

Glow Fair 2017

MJ Deyell (owner of StoneWall Art Gallery) represents my art work.  He invited me to do live painting in front of the gallery for Glow Fair.

He asked me to bring three of my most recent paintings.  So I brought 8... just to give him options. Like a child on christmas morning his eyes lite up.  He just absolutely loved the paintings. So I took all 8.

No sure how MJ Deyell managed to fit all the art in the gallery.  But I suspect he is good at Thanks Giving and can really stuff a turkey.

His partner Trevor came to see the new arrives. He was to supportive.  His words were so kind and positive.

Feeling so blessed... and feeling like a bird with more feathers.  I went to the Art Supply Store and loaded up on large amounts of paint and a van full of canvases.

Glow Fair - I showed up a little early and was ready to paint.

I have been painting for 24 years now.  I have done my studies, my representational landscapes, I feel confident to say that I can paint something. But still I question that in the dark days.  So I push forward.

The recent work I am currently explore is more child like. It is more about capturing an emotion through subtle manipulation and transference of paint.  The non representational, non subject matter.  This series is a landscape of the soul.  The opening up of the energy inside. The freedom of self. The child playing with joy.

I am 44 years old. I am not 4 years old. I am not 4 + 4 = 44. I do not hold my fingers up to communicate my age.  Life has been full of love and challenges.

Having seen and being influenced by so much art and incredible artists.  I find myself wishing to return back to the palette of my mind. And celebrate and dance in the joy of painting. The paint and love for colour is why I paint. The basic manipulation of paint and the interaction of colours is the primary source of my love as an artist.

Mj Deyell is an ambassador of kindness.  Feeling so encouraged.  It was time to paint.   A massive flood of passion was channelled. And on the Friday I managed to complete a 4 x 5 foot painting, and 4 other 18 x 24, 20 x 24 inch canvases.  A tornado of creativity.

The next day Mj Deyell asked me to put hanging equipment on all the paintings.  And some how he managed to put even more paintings up.

Currently StoneWall Gallery - 370 Bank Street has an abundant number of recent paintings (approximately 20 paintings).
