79th armoured

War: so When is anyone going to do anything with meaning/ I want it 'cold" no sensationalism - hell I am an artist - stuff. and I hope caring: just the stuff of being through rehab, , just the fallout
Do something serious - Nail it. I am not right wing - but kindly get the true horror of this 'war'.
Lock it all down . It remains about sacrifice in the face of adversity.
157 Canadians lost their lives. Small toll, but still worth the understanding
Give them their due. Even if you were not a part of it. You were there - but forever distanced.
So: what is your reaction? We 'exit a war' , not wanted, not sanctioned - certainly by me.
But those who were there still deserve support.
I do NOT want the War to sing a praise of politic, I spent the last few years of my life fighting that with paint
- just the song of the common soldier... The person who went, got munched and came home
Possibly minus a bit.
I am supposed to be Helping JPM here. - This ain't going to work without thought-out proper work.
Of course your own baggage allowed - But No Politic. Politic does not concern the soldier...........
I am not wanting to put all my stuff up - I want every artist to submit, in a fashion that matters
.
To you all:
B.

157th Canadian soldier died today in Afghanistan

It behooves us all, as human beings, to demand the social services they the living returning veterans want and need. In my humble opinion, this is the most important tribute we can give our returning vets for the sacrifices they've made on behalf of our country.

My heart and soul cries out in empathy for you, B, as you hope for a serious respectful tone for works displayed in the upcoming “WAR” themed exhibition.

To agree, however, with your suggestion that the art works displayed must follow a serious perspective and tone would make us both wrong. I agree to disagree. Freedom of expression is not about you or me, it’s about WE.

I, for one, respect and admire the values for free expression that the Patrick John Mills Gallery represents. So bring on the creations and interpretation of the WAR theme however and whatever the wonderfully talented artists choose to display for our viewing pleasure.

I am reminded of a little ditty that the USMC used in training. “This is my rifle. This is my gun. One is for shooting. One is for fun.” May the two always be mutually exclusive instruments! Bring on the art.. and get ‘er done!!!!!

Thanks for listening to my point of view…
