So many fascinating paintings and sculptures have been assembled for the vernissage of  Naked Naked Naked.

This is an important show and one of the most widely attended in the year, rivaled only by the February Love show and the post-summer show, I Killed the Group of Seven.

There is new work by Montreal artist, Jean Chainey and Ottawa artist, Denise Dowdy's work appears along with sculpture by Vancouver's James Fletcher. James will be one of the featured artists on the second Thursday, Let's Talk Art, sharing the evening with multi-media artist, Joa Keur.

Getting Ready for Opening of Naked Naked Naked

The upcoming show is called Naked Naked Naked. It is one of the biggest shows the gallery puts on and the artists pull out all the stops to make it as evocative and provocative as they can.

Being a literalist, I read "naked" and turn to the human form so my one offering will feature three or four panels of distinct naked doll body poses.

The dolls, all but one or two, have been decapitated. In this way, the sexual context has all-but been removed. What jolts is rampant flesh against an impenetrable black background.

Some male dolls are included as well.

A virtual Naked Naked Naked fest.

The vernissage is Thursday, June 7/12, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

This is a show not for the faint-of-heart. 

Adam F. Davidson's Open House

 It is always revealing to see from whence a person comes. Visiting abstract painter, Adam F. Davidson in his 16th floor apartment cum studio with paint splattered on the walls and floor showed his exuberant talent to good effect.

The other resident, a black cat, very much an artist's familiar, may not have appreciated having her space invaded by a variety of people, one who brought a dog, but those who came to see 70-some paintings and drawings were enchanted.

Vincent van Gogh: A Life in Paintings
Well known and much respected Dutch performer and theatre-maker Frank Groothof takes the role of both Vincent and his brother Theo. The scenes are accompanied by music from Van Gogh’s contemporaries and beautifully animated images, synchronized with the narrative by use of large video-projections. Sponsored by the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands.

Free admission, a limited quantity of advance passes are available starting May 12 in person at the NGC Box Office or by phone at 613-998-8888. Doors open at 6:30 pm for pass holders. Remaining seats will be released for general admission at 6:40 pm and seating will not be guaranteed to pass holders after this time. Presentation starts at 7 pm. In the Auditorium. Limited seating.
